Christmas is a-comin’

And everyone keeps asking us for ideas for Lauren for gifts for Christmas and her birthday, which is not far away!

So We’ve started a registry at findgift.com for her that you can view by clicking. Some of the things listed are toys that I think are really neat but that she’s not quite old enough for.

What we’d really love is to encourage Lauren to grow and develop without all the bells, lights, whistles, and baby bling that you can find in any toy store. Wooden toys, traditional and old fashioned toys, and things that encourage creative exploration are the best things we could ask for her to play with.

We’d also like to avoid toys and clothing that are based on a tv character or show, things like Elmo, Strawberry Shortcake, and Bratz are not her style. She has many stuffed animals already, and she can always use books!

Toys-R-Us and TJMaxx carry “Melissa and Doug” toys – wooden handcrafted toys that are reasonably priced. Lauren has the sandwich set, the pizza kit, the farm cube puzzle, and the alphabet 1″ blocks. She’d like the stacking train, some simple knobby puzzles, the locks and doors set, and more!

PLAYmatters is a neat store at Avon Commons (and they have stores on the east side) full of more traditional toys and games. Imaginarium and Zany Brainy are also good stores for finding things.

And if you want to shop from a catalog, just stop over, we have a bunch!
